Dr. Jannes Kordilla

Jannes is a lecturer and researcher working on hydrological processes in fractured porous media and karst systems, with emphasis on infiltration, groundwater flow, and transport dynamics. His research integrates laboratory experiments with advanced multi-scale modeling approaches, from pore- and fracture-scale simulations to large-scale network modeling, to better understand preferential pathways and support sustainable groundwater management.

Torsten pursues his Ph.D. as part of the DFG project „iKarst“. His research focuses on surface–subsurface coupling, recharge dynamics, and the development of catchment-scale distributed modeling approaches for fractured karst systems. He investigates how spatially variable infiltration, structural heterogeneity, and preferential flow pathways control groundwater recharge and flow organization, aiming to improve predictive modeling of karst hydrological systems.

As part of his PhD since 2025 within the ERC KARST project, Tobias investigates flow and transport dynamics in karst conduit networks using particle tracking approaches coupled with the openKARST modeling framework. His research focuses on understanding how network structure, hydraulic conditions, and transient flow regimes control transport pathways, residence times, and mixing processes in complex karst systems.

Max is developing a distributed infiltration and flood model in cooperation with Hamburger Wasser to study effects of hydrological coupling on predictive modeling and flood risk assessment in the urban environment of Hamburg, Germany.
